Apparently, a phone tree is a system of notifying people about meetings or other things of interest. Its like a pyramid of people who call those on the list below them. That's interesting. I've never heard that definition for phone tree before. What I refer to as a phone tree are those annoying menus.
"Please press 1 if you want to report a lost or stolen card. Please press 2 if you'd like information on loans. Please press 3 if you'd like to open a checking or savings account..."
Choosing one option brings you to another menu, and so on and so forth. It's a phone tree, just like a file tree (think old DOS).
